eBay Sellers Exploit TikTok Craze, Selling Used Phones at Inflated Prices

Forget Bitcoin, the hottest investment right now is apparently… a used iPhone with TikTok? Yes, you read that right. eBay sellers are listing these technological relics for unreasonable prices, and some poor souls seem to be biting.

Millions of TikTok fans are left wondering – will their favorite app ever come back? Even with a 75-day ban delay, Apple and Google are keeping TikTok locked out of their app stores. The tech giants are staying tight-lipped, leaving everyone to speculate about TikTok’s future.

For American users, deleting the TikTok app or losing the phone is like falling off the grid. For content creators, marketers, and social media professionals who’ve invested their time and energy into building an online presence on the platform, it would be a nightmare if TikTok never returns.

Well, story begins to get its twist here. Savvy eBay sellers are capitalizing on the TikTok ban as they’ve started listings used smartphones. A quick math can be done simply by searching for “TikTok phone”. It reveals over 9,000 devices!

However, there lies some security concerns. Because only a simple sign-out may seem like an authorized transfer of the app, but buyers would need to be vigilant about syncing to their own cloud accounts. What they can do from to ensure a more assured security is by asking the seller to remove all of their security measures beforehand.

Not to mention, this market is a minefield. Sellers are playing hardball, and it’s easy to get burned. Some eBay sellers are boldly listing their TikTok-equipped devices for as much as $50,000, such a fantasy! You can find plenty of options listed between $2,000 and $5,000 too.

Ironically, banished users are left to seek solace in alternative video sharing app. To be specific – thousands of new users have flooded RedNote, the Chinese social media platform this week. The platform got so crowded that it is struggling to maintain order. The urgent hunt for English moderators is on, which indicates that RedNote is trying to turn this unexpected user surge into lasting success.

In the race to snatch up TikTok’s top talent, Meta (the parent company of Facebook and Instagram) isn’t holding back. They’re rolling out a whirlwind of new features and eye-popping incentives. Influencers are being offered a cool $5,000 just to jump ship!
